Just a bit more skateboarding news before I switch over to sharing the BMX news from the Dew . . .
The Flying Tomato – Shaun White – wins it all in the vert skate competition (just as he did last year) with an amazing skate run that had the crowd on their feet! White creates excitement wherever he goes and, in 2006, Rolling Stone magazine called him the “coolest kid in America.” Plus, he just won the 2008 ESPY award for Best Male Action Sport Athlete. So it was a real pleasure to watch him nail yet another title.
Skateboarding news: here are the final standings in the 2008 Cleveland AST Dew Tour stop in skate vert:
- 1st White, Shaun 92
- 2nd Lasek, Bucky 88.25
- 3rd Macdonald, Andy 87.25
- 4th Burnquist, Bob 83
- 5th Taylor, Adam 78.25
- 6th Millar, Renton 75.75
- 7th Stafford, Josh 74.75
- 8th Gagnon, Pierre-Luc 62.75
- 9th Menezes, Rodrigo 51.5
- 10th Halterman, Buster 50.75
There were some terrific skaters out there!
